After what seems like a forever long hiatus the band Fall Out Boy is back in action. They released their fifth studio album, Save Rock and Roll, April 16, 2013 into stores world-wide and to iTunes. If you aren’t familiar with this punk rock band from Illinois since their four-year hiding let’s do a quick recap! The band consists of lead vocalist/guitarist Patrick Stump, bassist Pete Wentz, guitarist Joe Trohman, and finally drummer Andy Hurley. The band was formed way back when in 2001, you might remember their songs from 2005 such as “Sugar, We’re Goin’ Down” and “Dance, Dance.” Their previous albums have been stashed away, (but not forgotten!) in the indie rock and hardcore punk genre of music but, it seems that now the band is drifting away from their hardcore roots and giving the pop rock/punk stylings a try.

Save Rock and Roll is a whole new kind of Fall Out Boy record from their previous ones. Being a fan from the very start I am excited to see the band branching out and embracing the new musical style. I also love seeing the collaborations on this album with Courtney Love, Foxes, Big Sean, and the ever so amazing Elton John. All of the songs on this album have an up-beat tone to them with of course the catchy lyrics and chorus’. I thought that the debut single from this album, My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark, was going to be my favorite, but I have had The Mighty Fall (feat. Big Sean) on repeat since I downloaded the entire album from iTunes.  The vocals on the album are of course flawless. I’d expect no less from Patrick. But, we all know the guitar and drums are what keep you beating your dashboard to death during a car ride, so kudos to the other members of the band also.

I am very pleased and excited with this new music from FOB, and cannot wait to see what else they bring us in the future. If you are looking for an up-beat album to get you pumped up for just about anything I definitely suggest you give Save Rock and Roll a good listen through. I mean come on you guys let’s Save Rock and Roll!
