Web Series of the Week – 'Awkward Black Girl'

When you spend most of your life feeling awkward in social situations you have a tendency to forget that there are others who feel the same way.  It almost seems as though everyone around you has it together and knows the perfect thing to say and the perfect time to say it, while you on the other hand stand there looking like an idiot.  Thankfully for those of us who are permanently stuck standing by the punch bowl while the world dances on around us there are women like Issa Rae to let us know we aren’t alone.

In her web series Awkward Black Girl she plays “J” the main protagonist in the series who is faced with social situations that she doesn’t know how to deal with so as a way of relieving stress she writes rap lyrics and pretends she is in a rap video while driving her car.  If you haven’t fallen in love with this series by the end of the first episode then you have probably never experienced a socially awkward moment.
