Award-winning playwright and This American Life personality, Sean Lewis, teams up with artist Benjamin Mackey for an all-new ongoing series in SAINTS. The Dexter-esque action collides with a Preacher type sensibility in this new crime-horror series set to launch on October 7, 2015.
SAINTS revolves around Blaise, Lucy and Sebastian as they discover a Holy War is on the brink of eruption and they are the next generation of Saints poised to fight for a heave that God has abandoned.
“In Saints, you have these characters, housing the souls of revered religious martyrs, that still need to eat, sleep, drink and figure out what the hell is going on in their lives. I want to capture this balance of the contemporary mundanity with a classical sense of the monumental,” said Mackey. “Drawing on inspiration from John Singer Sargent, Giambattista Tiepolo, David Lynch, 19 Kids and Counting, Eastern Orthodox Icons and Slipknot…I hope to create a visual milieu that although clean and simple on surface, houses a much more tumultuous interior life.”
The new series promises to be action-packed with heavy metal, sex and deadly one-liners at every turn.
SAINTS #1 will be available on Wednesday, October 7.
