John O’Callaghan Announces New Project, John The Ghost

unnamed (13)Fans of alternative rock darlings The Maine are familiar with vocalist John O’Callaghan’s pop sensibilities. Released last year, this recognition led to the band’s fifth studio album American Candy debuting at number 37 on the Billboard charts. The new project from O’Callaghan, though, promises to be very different from what fans have experienced before.

Under the guise of John The Ghost, O’Callaghan will be releasing his latest project, Sincerely, John The Ghost on April 29th. The project fuses O’Callaghan’s musical abilities with his poetic talents, taking the form of a 90-page book of original poetry along with a six song EP.

“The purpose of this project is not only a form of catharsis by letting go of lingering ideas, but also an opportunity to potentially inspire others to express themselves in whatever ways make them feel alive,” said O’Callaghan of the project two years in the making. This will be O’Callaghan’s second foray into poetry following his 2011 release Exaltation.

You can hear John The Ghost’s first single, “Sour Grapes” below. Sincerely, John The Ghost is available for pre-order now.

  1. John,

Thank you for being the one to put words and composure to the feelings we all have felt time and time again. You have inspired me for as many years as I can remember and as I’ve matured emotionally and intellectually so has my love and understanding of all of the music The Maine puts out. This Project is something I massively look forward to and I can’t wait to see what the future holds.
