If you haven’t had a chance to check out Below Deck Mediterranean yet, you’re in for a wild ride. We were able to chat Julia, who is one of Below Deck‘s new crew members. Julia is a British native who has spent the last eight years in the yachting industry. Read our interview below! We discuss her experience aboard the Ionian Princess, her fellow crew mates, and more.

Had you seen the show before (previous seasons of Below Deck)?

I have seen 1 or 2 episodes but not the whole series…. It’s not quite reached the UK.

Besides the cameras, what if anything is different from the charters you’ve done in your past and the one you did for Below Deck?

This was my first time having American guests on board and also working with a predominantly American crew so that’s a new experience. Also, I have always worked on smaller yachts with fewer crew, there’s a lot of us on a large yacht like the Ionian Princess!

Who do you still keep in touch with?

Mainly, Hannah. We text and chat.

After the first episode it seems the crew is getting along while the stews have drama brewing. Can you tell us more about the relationship between the stews?

Tension is definitely brewing on the interior. From the first day Tiffany made it clear she wants to be on deck, which no chief stew wants to hear and both Hannah and I were worried that Tiffany couldn’t keep up with the fast stew pace!  Hannah thrives for perfection, so we’ll have to see if Tiffany can take the pressure and if Hannah lets up on her a little….Tears will be shed!

Did you know anyone from the crew before this charter?

Coincidentally Hannah and I both had our hair cut by the same hair stylist in the South of France before we joined the Ionian Princess. (Laughs). So I heard of her, but never met her.

Who is the class clown of the crew?

Danny, he’s full of beans…. all the time!

What can we look forward to seeing on this season of Below Deck?

The Islands of Greece are stunningly beautiful, especially Santorini – so the scenery shots will blow one’s mind! There is going to be buckets of drama and I don’t think the crew gets through one charter without a dispute (Laughs)… It must be the Mediterranean heat getting to everyone’s head! I try and shy away from confrontation, but when you’re stuck on a yacht that’s difficult!

Our site is called Talk Nerdy With Us, so what do you “nerd out” about?

I own a 1965 Vespa and love classic vehicles… One day I’d like to own a 1969 Jaguar E-Type 4.2, I’ve already started to save the pennies!

Make sure to watch Below Deck Mediterranean every Tuesday 9/8c on Bravo!
