When Prince’s estate announced in July that it was organizing an official tribute concert for the dearly-departed musician, which would be held in October, fans were thrilled. Not only would it finally give them an opportunity to congregate and say goodbye to the fallen icon but it would also serve as a chance for his fellow musicians and admirers to celebrate his immense musical legacy. As such, anticipation for the event could be felt on several social media platforms.

However, as time passed, anticipation and excitement began to be eclipsed by worry. With only a month to go to until the scheduled date of October 13, no official information for the concert had been revealed and no contract had been settled. Fans, especially the ones who had already spent money to arrange travel and lodging, started to panic and press those in charge for information. However, all they got in return was radio silence and some vague reassurances.

Now, that silence has finally been broken. The event would go on as scheduled, and with an all-star line-up to boot! The Official Prince Tribute, originally intended to be held at Minneapolis’s new U.S. Bank Stadium, will instead by held at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, MN and will feature performances from several musical icons and friends, including Stevie Wonder, Christina Aguilera, Chaka Khan, John Mayer, Tori Kelly, Anita Baker, Doug E. Fresh, Luke James, Bilal, Mint Condition and members of Prince’s inner circle, such as Morris Day & The Time, Judith Hill and Liz Warfield. The New Power Generation (NPG) led by Morris Hayes along with members of 3RDEYEGIRL will perform on all songs.

Tickets are slated to go on sale on Monday, September 19th at 10:00 am CST. They are available at the Xcel Energy Center Box Office by calling 800-745-3000 or online at ticketmaster.com. To charge by phone using Ticketmaster TDD/TYY, call 800-359-2525.
