Where Are They Now: “The Ring” Edition

In 2002, Gore Verbinski’s supernatural horror film The Ring, based on the novel Ring by Koji Suzuki, made its grand debut in theaters all over the world, ultimately becoming one of the highest-grossing horror films of all time. Starring Naomi Watts, The Ring focuses on a Seattle journalist named Rachel Keller, who is recruited by her sister to investigate the mysterious death of her niece Katie. This leads her to discover a strange videotape which reportedly, if watched, causes the viewer’s death. Loaded with suspense as well as impressive special effects, this film garnered mostly positive reviews and paved the way for a succession of remakes of Japanese horror classics, including The Grudge, Dark Water, Pulse and One Missed Call.
To this day, The Ring remains one of the most iconic and terrifying horror films ever created, spawning what will soon be two sequels: The Ring Two (2005) and Rings, which is slated to premiere on October 28, 2016. You can check out the film’s official trailer here:
