With just one week until the season finale, Thursday’s episode of How To Get Away With Murder dropped a bombshell in the final moments that left viewers with a lot more questions than answers.

Thursday’s episode picks up with Annalise (Viola Davis) opening the file from Governor Birkhead (Laura Innes) that she got at the end of last week’s episode. The file contained Emmett Crawford’s (Timothy Hutton) phone records. It showed that just moments after Annalise quit Caplan & Gold, Emmett called up the prison just hours before Nate Sr.’s (Glynn Turman) death. Weird timing? Maybe. Annalise is questioning it until Tegan (Amirah Vann) tells her she called in a favor to get the real phone records and they are an exact copy of the one’s Birkhead gave.

In one of the letters Nate Sr. wrote to Annalise’s mother, he mentioned a lawyer had come to visit him in prison and wanted Nate Sr. to fire Annalise as his counsel. Nate (Billy Brown) gets ahold of some grainy prison security tape, which showed his father meeting with a man, who looks a lot like Connor from behind if we’re being honest. I know the show wanted us to think it was Emmett, but it really looked like Connor from behind.

An angry Emmett barges into Annalise’s apartment later that evening following a date from the pits of hell. Yeah, I should probably mention that Annalise and Emmett went on a date, but it was really just Annalise playing him to get information out of him. It didn’t go well.

Anyway, Emmett explains he knew of Annalise’s suspicions because he bugged Tegan’s office and overheard the women discussing his phone records. He admits that he had nothing to do with the death of Nate’s dad. Meanwhile, Bonnie (Liza Weil) obtains the prison video after blackmailing the prison warden and brings it over to Nate and Frank (Charlie Weber). They watch Mr. Lawyer-Who-Looks-Like-Connor-But-Isn’t finally turns around and no one recognizes the guy. Seriously, I had no clue who he was. As it turns out, it was actually Laurel’s brother, Adrian Castillo. Great, another Castillo storyline. I thought we were done with this family?
