‘America’s Got Talent’ recap: The best and worst acts from Week 5 of auditions

The auditions for Season 14 of America’s Got Talent are quickly coming to an end and Tuesday night saw some emotional and wacky performances, judges and contestants clashing, and one accidental golden buzzer.

In case you missed it, here are the best and worst acts from the fifth week of auditions:

The Best

Verba Shadow

The shadow dance group from Ukraine performed one of the most touching acts of the season. They told an epic love story through dance and the music selection was on point.

As someone who has grown a little tired of these shadow dance acts, this group really impressed me. Not only are they one of my stand out acts of the night but of the entire season. I can see them going really far in this competition.

Lukas and Falco

This act really touched my heart, especially as someone who loves his dog. Lukas and his dog Falco performed a adorable routine to Kenny Loggin’s “Footloose”, which saw Falco actually dance with his owner. I can’t even get my dog to roll over!

Izzy and Easton

The dancers from Las Vegas shined on stage and despite having their audition released early, they still managed to impress me a second time. For their age, the pint-sized dancers have a way of easily gliding across the stage and conveying the emotion of the routine.

They may not make it to the live shows or get too far in the competition, but they really did themselves proud.

The Worst

Death

The comedian’s act was so bad. It literally felt like a wasted 90 seconds and none of the jokes were funny. It says a lot when the audience cheers an act after getting four X’s from the judges.

Episode Notes:

  • There was no golden buzzer on Tuesday night. Well, none by the judges at least. The final act of the night was Australian dancer Ben Trigger. He stripped down to a very revealing garment and finished his routine by accidentally hitting the golden buzzer for himself. So funny!
  • Tuesday’s show was one of the worst of the season in terms of the level of talent, which is standard for the penultimate episode of auditions.
