  1. Just watched living with the enemy and I did feel that Beth’s parenting style actually endangers the children. Oftentimes parents that are super strict end up not knowing where their children are because of the kids inability to be open and honest with their parents because of repercussions. Often those parents truly do not know what is going on in the kids world. Those kids end up keeping secrets and sneaking out. My step cousin was murdered because she snuck out to meet a boy from MySpace. The parents had no idea she was out at 2 in the morning and the younger sister had to go to pick up her sister at 5 am. She was not there and had to come home and let the parents know what happened. The older sisters body was found in the desert a couple months later. The murderer was an engaged 24 yr old man with a baby on the way. The bottom line is had the parents not been so strict, the teenagers would have had a normal dating life, the parents would have met any potential dates, they would know her comings and goings and she would have never needed to sneak out, leaving her in a dangerous position. Strict parents often do not know where their kids are and what they are really doing because they are forced to be sneaky and tell lies. That is simply not better parenting than allowing and accepting open communication in the household.
