Can each member of the band start off by introducing themselves? Tell us a little bit about yourself and what your role is in the band.
“I’m Carter Matthews I sing and I’m in love with Elephants and Dinosaurs. Zack Patterson plays the piano. Nick “Radman” Addison plays the drums.”
What was the first thing that got you interested in music?
“I’ve always been really drawn to music. I can’t really think of one specific time. It’s just always played such a huge role in my life.”
How did all of the members of the band meet?
“Me and Zack have known each other since middle school and we met Radman while he was actually playing for another band.”
When did you all know you wanted to pursue music as something serious?
“I decided it was what I was going to do as my career when I was 15 and starting really getting serious after graduating high school.”
You recently released your new record “Under Control”, can you tell us a little bit about that?
“Yep! It’s full of up-best pop tunes. We all love the genre we play and we really try our best to express that in our music. It’s just fun music, care-free music.”
What is your writing process like? Is it a group effort, or is it mostly just one person?
“Well, I write the lyrics and get a little groove in my head and then I bring the song to Zack and we work on the music for it.”
You just went on tour with We Are The In Crowd, Every Avenue, and Plug In Stereo, can you tell us a little bit about that?
“It was great! We made friends with everybody and would love playing with all those guys (and girl) again!”
Speaking of touring, what is your favorite thing about being on the road?
“I love getting to meet new people every night. I’m very social and love seeing new faces!”
What is your favorite city to play in?
“Anaheim, California was a lot of fun! I don’t know if I have an absolute favorite yet.”
When you tour do you have something that you always have to have in the van? Like specific foods, or other items?
“We always have a bunch of water in the van. We also always have to have an iPod plugged in so we can listen to our tunes.”
Who are your biggest influences, musical or not?
“I think Adam Levine is mine. I wish he was my mentor and older brother! Haha”
With that being said, if you could play a show with anybody, dead or alive, who would it be? And why?
“I would love to do a tour with Katy Perry, Taylor Swift, Led Zeppelin, and City and Colour. It would just be the most absurd lineup ever. I’d love it!”
Where do you want the band to be in 5 years?
“Well, I’d only be 24 so I would for sure like to still be touring full time and steadily putting out new records. Hopefully I’ll be enjoying some success! Haha”
Is there anything that was left out of this interview that you want your fans to know?
“Thank you so much to all of our fans who love and support us! Just know I love and appreciate you guys do much too :)”
