Cover Wars: Love Myself

“Love Myself” is the lead single from American actress and now singer, Hailee Steinfeld. Hailee debuted her singing voice in Pitch Perfect 2 and soon after the movie’s release signed a record deal with Republic Records. She released “Love Myself” on August 7, 2015 with the music video being released one week later on August 14, 2015.

Some media outlets have interpreted the song as an “ode to masturbation,” but Hailee says that the meaning of the song is left up to the listener. She has said that for her the song is one about indulgence. Whether that be emotionally, physically, or with material things.

I choose to see this as a catchy song with a great message and I can’t get it out of my head. When this song comes on my windows roll down and the volume goes up.
