Deadpool is Coming to Take Your Airwaves: Milan Music Release Deadpool The Original Score By Junkie XL

Marvel’s Deadpool is probably one of the most anticipated movies of 2016. Deadpool, more of an anti-hero than superhero, tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a dubious experiment is left with special powers, but an utterly destroyed life. Armed with his new abilities, and a dark twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down those who ruined his life. This marks the directorial debut of Tim Miller, a former animation artist. Deadpool is set to deliver a truly adult comic book movie, serving up a mix of sharp wit and ultra violence that earned the movie an R rating. This was a ten-year “passion project” for actor and producer Ryan Reynolds, this is a film close to both his and Miller’s hearts.

Grammy nominated and multi-platinum producer, musician, and composer Tom Holkenborg, aka JunkieXL has done scores for Mad Max: Fury Road, 300: Rise of an Empire, Kill All Your Friends and the upcoming Batman vs. Superman has been brought on board to accurately convey the chaos of Deapool. Holkenberg said “[Deapool] is such a fantastic, over-arrogant, extremely funny, swagger-heavy, violent character…it’s Miami Vice meets Mad Max.” The score is crafted with vintage drum machines, modular synths, live drum and bass that allows the music to become its own character within the narrative. Holkenborg also shows his skills as a selector for the movie with the soundtrack featuring tracks from the likes of DMX (X Gon Give It To Ya) and of course Deadpool’s favorite band Wham! (Careless Whisper).

Tom Holkenborg aka Junkie XL has enjoyed an illustrious career as an artist, producer and composer. He began in 1993 in his own band Nerv at the same time producing hardcore and metal bands like Sepultura and Fear Factory. He adopted the moniker Junkie XL in 1997 and created five albums while playing headline shows the world over. He then lent his talents to remixing, having a worldwide hit with his remix of Elvis’s ‘A Little Less Conversation’. Following that success he collaborated and remixed for some of the world’s biggest artists such as Dave Gahan (Depeche Mode), Robert Smith (The Cure), Chuck D (Public Enemy), Coldplay, Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake.

You can listen to a preview of 12 Bullets and Maximum Effort.
