Nick Viall is the New Bachelor for Season 21

Nick Viall, the runner-up on two seasons of The Bachelorette and the star on this season of Bachelor in Paradise, was announced as the new Bachelor.

The news was announced live on tonight’s episode of After Paradise by hosts Michelle Collins and Sean Lowe.

“I don’t know if anything really prepares you for it,” he said when asked about the feelings he has going into the experience. “Honestly, I think I’m definitely ready for it. I’m very excited. I’ve had an interesting journey throughout this process.”

Many fans were shocked by Viall being chosen for the role. After weeks of speculation, it looked like the front-runners were either Luke Pell or Chase McNary from JoJo Fletcher’s season as many of the recent Bachelors have been picked from the last season of The Bachelorette.

Ben Higgins and Lauren Bushnell appeared via Skype on After Paradise to offer Nick some words of advice. “Buckle up. Your life is about to change big time, but all for the better,” Higgins said.

Tune into the premiere of The Bachelor in January 2017 to see if the fourth time’s the charm for Nick.
