Hallmark Channel cuts ties with Lori Loughlin amid college admissions scandal

The Hallmark Channel is going to find a new star for their Christmas movies. The network announced on Thursday that it has dropped Lori Loughlin from all Hallmark Channel productions amid the college admissions scandal.

“We are no longer working with Lori Loughlin and have stopped development of all productions that air on the Crown Media Family Network channels involving Lori Loughlin including Garage Sale Mysteries, an independent third party production,” the network said in a statement.

The new episode of Hallmark’s When Calls The Heart, which Loughlin stars in, that was set to air this coming Sunday has been pulled for now while the network is “evaluating all creative options around [the] series.” The network also will drop all past movies or shows featuring the 54-year-old actress.

Loughlin is among 50 others charged in the alleged college admissions scandal involving Yale, Georgetown, the University of Southern California, the University of Texas at Austin, and Stanford. Loughlin and her husband, fashion designer Mossimo Giannulli, allegedly paid $500,000 to make it appear her daughter was a rower so that she could get in to prestigious universities, despite never being on the rowing team. Both Loughlin and her husband were arrested earlier this week on the felony charge of conspiracy to commit mail fraud and honest services mail fraud.
