‘The Challenge: Wars of the Worlds 2’ recap: Cheating scandal leads to a shocking elimination

Wednesday night’s episode of The Challenge: War of the Worlds 2 saw one team cheat and one team betray one of their own, leading to a shocking elimination.

In case you missed it, here’s a recap of what went down in Wednesday’s episode:

Pick a side

The episode begins with both the U.S. and U.K. teams having meetings. The Americans are worried about Wes and others getting too close to members of Team U.K., while the Brits are discussing who will be team leader if they win the next challenge. Bear speaks up but the rest of the group goes against him and shuts him down rather quickly. Josh is worried how his friendship with Georgia will play out with his team and promises to be part of the the tribunal if the Americans win the next challenge.

Cheaters never win

Speaking of the next challenge, this week’s challenge saw the players have to memorize numbers and then use those numbers to unlock 16 locks that are holding puzzle pieces. The first team to complete the puzzle would win.

The Americans really struggled in this challenge as they could not figure out the correct numbers and had trouble memorizing them in order. The Brits sailed through and looked to be on their way to a win.

However, host T.J. Lavin revealed that the Brits cheated by breaking their locks instead of using the numbers to unlock them. He disqualified them, which meant that the U.S. were declared winners for the third straight week. As promised, Josh nominates himself and picks Zach and Laurel to join him in the tribunal.

Nominations and a betrayal

The U.K. nominations turn ugly when everyone wants to vote Bear into elimination. He tries his best to fight it, but it is no use. He is nominated and now the tribunal must pick who he will face. Right off the bat, the U.S. wants Theo up for elimination but Josh is hesitant. This leads to Wes calling Josh out for going back on his word and the two get into a fight.

Wes is still upset and starts talking about Josh behind his back, saying that Josh is an “expendable” player. Laurel overhears this and runs back to tell Josh everything. Eventually, Josh decides to vote in Wes for elimination, betraying his own team’s wishes in the process.

Elimination shocker

At the elimination, Laurel and Josh shock everyone by voting in Wes for elimination and to go against Bear. The challenge involved the guys fighting over balls and scoring two points. Despite Wes putting up a good fight, he ended up losing and becoming the first American to be eliminated.
